Fernanda Molina holds a Ph.D. and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA, Argentina) and a Master's degree in History of the Hispanic World from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC, Spain). She is a full-time Researcher at the Consejo de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET, Argentina), affiliated with the Instituto de Historia Argentina y Americana “Dr. Emilio Ravignani” (CONICET-UBA). Additionally, she serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, UBA, and in the Master's Program in Gender Studies and Policies at the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF, Argentina).
Her research specializes in gender studies and the history of sexuality in the Viceroyalty of Peru during the 16th and 17th centuries. Currently, her work focuses on dissident sexualities in relation to judicial administration, court records, and colonial archives. She has led several accredited and publicly funded collective research projects supported by national science and technology agencies in Argentina. She has conducted research stays at international institutions, including the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory (Frankfurt, Germany), the Escuela de Estudios Hispanoamericanos (Seville, Spain), the University of Seville (Spain), and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She is also a member of the Asociación Centro Iberoamericano de Estudios sobre Sexualidad (ACIES).
Prof. Dr. Molina is the author of Cuando amar era pecado. Sexualidad, poder e identidad entre los sodomitas coloniales (Virreinato del Perú. Siglos XVI-XVII), published by the Instituto Francés de Estudios Andinos (IFEA) in 2017. Most recently, she co-edited Nefando Imperio. Imaginarios sociales, culturales y judiciales de la sodomía en la Monarquía Hispánica. Siglos XVI-XVIII, published by Editorial Comares (Spain, 2025). She has also coordinated collective volumes such as Género, sexualidad y raza. Producciones normativas y experiencias judiciales en las modernidades europeas y americanas (fines del siglo XV-principios del siglo XIX) and Conflictos, representaciones e identidades en la arena judicial.
